To advise industry producers that as of September 3, 2025, Alberta Energy Oil Royalty Operations (AEM Oil) and the Alberta Petroleum Marketing Commission (APMC) approved updates to the Petrinex-generated “Oil Forecast Variance Report”.   The revised report now identifies any variance in volumes and values between production and royalty volumes as reported in Volumetrics by the operator.

To share with Industry that the DOE has advised that the DOE Forecast Report available under the menu Monthly - Oil Forecast – Manage Forecast Reporting will be discontinued as of March 2023 (production month 02/23). Until that time, Industry is strongly encouraged not to use this report as part of their forecasting process and use the Petrinex generated “Oil Forecast Report” that is available around the 26th of each month.

This tip is to provide Alberta industry marketing and forecasting staff with an overview of the Petrinex Oil Forecast Tool (OFT), to assist with their monthly forecasting activities. It is assumed that users of this document understand marketing and forecasting processes or have read the Petrinex tip titled “Petrinex OFT Processes for Oil Marketing Users”.

To provide Alberta industry marketing staff with an overview of the forecasting processes and the tools available in Petrinex. For more information on how to use the forecast tools in Petrinex please review the Tip titled “Petrinex Oil Forecast Tool Overview”.

To inform Industry of an enhancement to the Oil Forecast Tool functions in Petrinex effective September 8, 2022. This enhancement will allow users to set an override flag on a well that is on a royalty program
